Discover Sarlat and its pleasures

Dating back to the 9th century, Sarlat is the capital of the Périgord Noir region. Black too is its local gold (the truffle), which can be found in a covered market as famous as Brive's on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.

In mid-November, the Sarlat film festival takes place in the narrow streets of the town, welcoming the biggest stars of the moment.

Sarlat is also famous for its Christmas market, with a new theme every year and a village decorated in the colours of France's favourite holiday. What's more, the market is listed as one of the most beautiful in France! Finally, if you're a gourmet, this town will delight you with the many events organised around local products and brasseries celebrating truffles, geese and all the products derived from ducks.
